DU Merit List 2022: 10 things to remember about DU’s seat allocation phase

The Delhi University is set to release the Merit List for DU Admissions 2022 tomorrow, following the recent unveiling of the seat allocation list. During this phase, candidates will secure seats based on their CUET scores and preferences for programs and colleges, as indicated in phase 2.

Here are 10 key points to keep in mind about the new seat allocation system:

  1. Candidates will be allocated seats based on the program-group merit list, category, and seat availability. The highest preference will be given accordingly.
  2. Upon seat allocation, candidates must accept it immediately to ensure participation in the next round. Failure to accept the initial allocation promptly may result in losing the seat to another candidate.

  1. If a college seeks clarification from a candidate, it may raise a query. Candidates must respond to such queries within the specified time online. Failure to respond may lead to the rejection of allocated seats.
  2. College authorities will approve/reject candidature after verification, and upon acceptance, students will receive a notification on their dashboard for fee payment.
  3. Subsequent rounds of allocation will depend on seat availability due to cancellations, withdrawals, or rejections. Vacant seats will be displayed on the university’s admission website before each allocation round.
  4. The ‘upgrade’ and ‘freeze’ options allow admitted candidates to try for other preferences or stick with the initially allocated seat. The ‘upgrade’ option may lead to automatic cancellation of the current seat if a higher preference is allocated.

  1. Tie-breaking rules will consider aggregate marks in Class 12 subjects and the candidate’s age.
  2. For ECA quota, candidates can apply for a maximum of three categories, and allocation is based on CEM (Combined ECA Merit).
  3. In the Sports Quota, allocation is determined by CSM (Combined Sports Merit), considering CUET scores, sports certificate grades, and sports trial scores.
  4. Candidates who missed applying within the designated time can participate through the mid-entry window, subject to a non-refundable fee. Spot admission rounds may be announced for vacant seats, allowing eligible candidates to opt for spot admission through the dashboard.

The upcoming Merit List will shed light on the outcomes of this comprehensive seat allocation process.
